These Boots Were Made For Rockin' (Alternate Title: Marie is a Dork)

Last Friday I was at my favourite Goodwill looking for half price day bargains when I saw these CRAZY COWBOY BOOTS.  At first I passed them by, thinking there was no way I'd be able to get them on my giant (women's size 10.5-11) feet.  Besides, I'm a vegetarian and I haven't worn leather in years.  But then I looked back at them and realized they actually looked relatively large, and I thought, "Well, vintage leather doesn't require (further) animal suffering and is eco-friendly...".  So I went back.  Turns out they were a men's 8, and they fit (albeit rather snugly)!  Without hesitating, I snatched those puppies up and bought 'em (for a whole $8.99, since - much to my disappointment - they were excluded from the sale).

The thing is, these boots are so darn AWESOME that I can't even tell if they're nice or not; I'm blinded by their awesomeness.  For all I know, they're absolutely hideous.

(I'm also not sure if I'll be able to get used to the idea of wearing cow skin on my feet, but that's an issue for another time.)

So, dear readers, my questions for you are:

1.  Do you like these boots?  Please vote in the poll, and feel free to elaborate in a comment!

2.  If you don't think the boots should never be worn, what do you think they should be worn with?

Awesome details:
Check out the gorgeous metalwork:
And the (very worn) bottom of one boot, so you can see the logo:

Love 'em? Hate 'em? I'd love to hear your opinion! Please be honest... I won't be offended. After all, I didn't make them (and I'm still undecided, myself).

What do you think of my Sandiego cowboy boots?

  1. I think they ROCK!!! They're cowboy boots after all, and they are showstopin' stompers for sure.

  2. Marie,
Found your blog from etsy blog team, awesome awesome blog you are having here! I love vintage style and I certainly and definitely will wear those cowboy boots.
    Nice meeting ya!

Or, more realistically, they are so much WOW all on their own just pair them with something really simple like a solid-colour dress? Dress and cowboy boots, you'll be like one of the girls from The Good Lovelies!!

  4. Can't help you with the question of what to wear them with, but I'm pretty sure i know where you need to wear them.

    Hint: it's Call the Office.

  5. Pamela: Excellent! Thanks. :)

Vema: Thank you so much! Your jewelery is absolutely gorgeous; I've started following your blog. It's nice to meet you, too!

Phil: Thanks! I think you're right about how to wear 'em; those ladies sure do know how to rock cowboy boots! Not to mention the fact that their music is GREAT; thanks for the link. :)

    Chris: Oh, definitely!

  6. They're enormously wonderful! If I were young and hip, I'd wear them with a white cotton skirt, about knee length:)

  7. I like Bobbi's suggestion to wear with a white cotton skirt. Anything voluminous! - I think they're awesome - great find! xo

  8. Thanks Bobbi; I can definitely see that working!

  9. Thanks, Rhett! You're right, I think these boots call for something flouncy. :)

  10. Crazy boots - Such an awesome find! Now that we are out west I would love to find some bright red boots and see if I can pull them off without looking like a clown.

  11. Bright red boots are amazing! I hope you find some; I'm sure you'll look awesome in them. :)

  12. Haha, I wish I could send you a pair, (Ri)Charmed!

I wore them to a play last night, with a black dress and a light grey sweater... I was quite pleased.
